## Types of Layers

### GeoJSON

![GeoJSON layer](https://3566446502-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FreZrjEwkXal3rd9EjRgb%2Fuploads%2Fs9525nlhxrAaaF5kR9BO%2FScreenshot%202023-12-08%20134647.png?alt=media\&token=7ff8d703-3189-4e3d-8074-31b00060ab62) ![Polygon geoJSON layer](https://3566446502-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FreZrjEwkXal3rd9EjRgb%2Fuploads%2FjSAFhiaWlK8bT1vuamiz%2FScreenshot%202023-12-08%20134743.png?alt=media\&token=59d88498-7ae1-40c0-9987-c3ee867dbaec)

GeoJSON layers can display either lines, polygons or points. For example, a lineGeoJSON layer can display data like road sections or trip routes. A polygon GeoJSON layer is essentially a [choropleth](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Choropleth_map) layer and works best for rendering zone data. To add a GeoJSON layer, your dataset must contain geometry data.

### Tooltip

Tooltips can be set for each layer. The tooltip allows selection of attributes within the associated data set to be displayed when hovering over the layer objects in the map.

### Global Attributes

With global attributes turned on, all datasets with common column names will use the same data range.

For example, dataset 1 has a range for the volume of 0 - 5,000 while dataset 2 has a range of 0 - 6,000. With global attributes, both datasets will use a range of 0 - 5,000 for symbology such as colour scales and stroke widths. This ensures that layers created from the two datasets are consistent and directly comparable.

## Display Legend

View your map Layer Legend by clicking the Display Legend icon in the top right corner of your map:
