Getting Started with a Shared Map

Vista is a tool designed for geospatial data visualisation and analysis. This guide will help you get started viewing visualisations you've received.

Map Components

A Vista map contains a number of components, including:

  1. Side Panel

  2. Map

  3. Legend

Shared Map Overview

1. Side Panel

The side panel contains:

  1. Title

  2. Description / Information Tab

  3. Layers Tab

  4. Base map Tab

In the Layers Tab, layers can be switched on and off with the "eye" icon. Labels can be independently switched on and off with the label visibility button, "Aa". When multiple layers are present they can be reordered by dragging the layer up or down.

In the Base map Tab, different base map themes can be set.

Side Panel

2. Map

You can interact with the map by zooming, panning and hovering over objects. When hovering over an object, the object will be highlighted and a tooltip will show the attributes that the map creator has set.

3. Legend

The Legend shows the symbology applied to each layer. The layer name and attribute used to theme the layer is shown. When a layer is hidden, the legend item will be hidden as well.
